Its the 1st of December!
The einsteins opened their lego advent calendars...
...and hubby opened his...
He just isn't as excited about legos as the rest of us, so I made him his own beer-a-day advent countdown calendar. Luckily, we have a great store here with a wall-o'-beer to choose from. I went for all the "off the beaten path" beers, and a few favorites. The hardest part is finding 24 empty pringles cans to wrap up! :)
Other things we do for advent:
Reading a book each day that focuses on the season, whether it be about Christmas, santa, the nativity, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the saints, whatever. (I think learning and exposing our children to and about other cultures, races, and traditions is very important for raising my children not to prejudice, closed-minded, or judgmental.)
Reading a verse for advent each evening together - this year, they have launched a new app from Focus on the Family based on the characters from Adventures in Oddessey, a radio program that the einsteins listen to nightly. It's a fun way to engage the kids in advent! Check it out here. They even have a free preview! I'm really excited to start this one this year!
