Roadtrip 2012 - California Adventure

The short jaunt to Cali from LV wasn't so short due to the checkpoint taking FOR-EV-UH to get past, but we finally made it into Los Angeles that afternoon.
(New seating arrangement now that Niecey was with us!)
We stopped in Baker to see the World's Tallest Thermometer...again.
Never gets old, folks.
After seeing my mom and getting a room for the night, she took us to dinner and the kids got a GREAT suprise - Gramie had bought us all tickets to California Adventure so we could go to the grand opening of Cars Land for Evan!
Woooo Hooooooooo!
So EARLY EARLY the next morning, Grammie picked us up and dropped us off at the gates so we could be ready to run!
The einsteins and I waited in line to get into the park, while hubby waited in the fast pass line for the Cars racers ride.
When they let us into the park, we were first in line for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, and it was by FAR a favorite for Evan!

Then it was off to Luigi's Casa de la Tires to ride Luigi's Flying Tires. This was when hubby caught up with us, racers tickets in hand.
This ride had the best waiting line of the three CARS rides. It was SO cute to be in Luigi's tire shop.

An autographed photo of Shu Todoroki!
This is the mirror that you drive up to when you try on your tires.
(So cute!)

Randomly, characters would drive down Radiator Springs. We saw Lightning, Mater, Red the firetruck, and DJ.

And just LOOK at these bathroom doors!

The einsteins with one of Mater's tractor cows.

Filmore's Tent
(fruit annd drinks)
 Sally's Cozy Cone Motel
 Radiator Springs & Flo's V8 Diner

Meeting the man car himself, Lightning McQueen!
He even revved up his engine for Evan, who thought it was the BEST!

We got (can you believe this?) a GREEN Cars racer on our turn for the Racers!

...and our racer WON the race!

 Tulsa Tea!

Evan answered a trivia question to earn this button - which he deemed his award for winning the race :)
And then it was back to the Mater Jamboree so daddy could ride with us.

This was Niecey's first loop coaster, and she loved it!

It was here that we ate our most expensive meal of the trip!
But how could you not justify $6 mac and cheese when it has a mickey shaped plate?? ;)
Then it was off to A Bug's Land for some little rides.

Emma discovered Pin Trading this trip, and this was her first "trade" with a cast member at Sarge's Curio Shop.
When DJ came down the street, the kids danced along with his favorite song (DJ got us fallin' in love) AND Evan's favorite soundtrack single, Life is a Highway.

The scariest ride of the day was the ferris wheel.
No, really.
It has moving cages that fall and slide as the wheel turns.
I was a little suprised when we saw the "Motion Sickness bags" stocked inside (next to Emma), but the first fall of the cage made it all clear!
After the first one, it was better, after knowing what to expect, and it ended up being a favorite of Evan's.

We had an AMAZING day at the happiest place on earth!
Thank you SO much, Grammie!!

  1. You probably get this question a lot from fellow road tripping families, but I don't know where to find the answer. What kind of vehicle do you use on those road trips? It looks perfect for that size family. Thank you for blogging!

    1. We drive a seven seated Toyota sienna. They come in 8 seated as well, but for a family of four, the larger 2nd row seats were a better choice. (and we LOVE it!)

We LOVE hearing from you! Just remember these are for the einsteins' blog books, so keep it rated G :)
