Oh, Man!

There's a new turtle in our garden, and it's a strapping young man. Well, I shouldn't say young, per sae, as he's probably about 12 years old, but they can live up to 100 years, but this is really exciting news!
See, our resident pet, Speedy, is a sweet girl turtle. They're both Eastern Box Turtles, and that's exciting because we hope they find each other.
The Eastern Box Turtle (all 4 species of box turtles, actually) are slowly dwindling away. They stay around their mating grounds their entire lives, so when we move them even a half mile, they'll never make it back to mate. :(
The other problem is that they can't find a mate in any other way than bumping into each other. No, no bars, just good ol "funny meeting you here" type scenarios. So the fact that they are both here, around our home, gives me hopeful & good vibes...even though I haven't seen Speedy since "Blue" showed up the other day...
Anyway, I can't help but keep my fingers crossed that my garden of miracles will be the meeting place of these two turtles and maaaayyyybe, we'll get to see {squeal!} babies someday!! ;)
