The Big State Swim Meet was yesterday morning and our team was defending our State Champion Title this year. We had to leave the house by 6:30am to get to the pool by 8am for warm ups. It was an early morning, but everyone did really well!
Emma & Gavin were ready to go!

Our team (The Shockers) had our own set of stands closest to the pool. We all had to sit opposite the center from the swimmers, so we had no contact with them throughout the whole day. (Luckily, overprepared mommy had walkie talkies for us!)
I made this banner for the team's "area". It has each of the kids' names written on lightning bolts on it - and it took a long time to make! It looked really cute, though!
The "littles" are getting a pep talk by Coach Katie before the meet starts.
The VERY FIRST event was the relay race, and the VERY FIRST swimmer in the pool of the 2010 State Swim Meet was...
(drum roll please!)
(As if she wasn't nervous enough!)
She did her backstroke like a champ, and so did her relaymates, grabbing them a 1st place win!
Gavin went soon after, and the girls cheered him on. (Emma is in the spotted towel)
Emma competed in 6 events total, and worked really hard. She was competing against up to 27 other girls in her age group!

In the end, the Shockers once again are the state champions, and we're looking forward to the awards banquet.

You've had a great season, Em! We're so proud of you!
