Haircut!

Today, Evan got his first haircut! It was growing down over his ears, and I just couldn't let it go much longer! (I was aiming for a year!) Little did I know just how much that little bit of hair would change his whole look! Such a big boy!

The stylist that cut Evan's hair has been my own stylist since I graduated high school. He also did Emma's 1st haircut over 5 years ago! It's always amazing how quickly time flies with these two!
Through the entire cut, Evan was quiet and still - perfect, as usual! In fact, I think he really enjoyed it!
p.s. Evan turned 9 months old yesterday! Updates will be posted tomorrow!! :)

Football, flowers, & backyard fun!!

Spring has sprung, and finally the weather has, too! Its been a wonderful week so far! The first flowers in my garden have bloomed, being the snapdragons from last year. I guess they decided to seed into the border bricks outside the garden walls (rebels!), so I had to replant them in pots. Hopefull, they make it! My green thumb isn't so green...
Orangey-pink snapdragons! Who said my 2 favorite colors can't go together?!? ;)

Speaking of orange, the Cowboys had their orange & white scrimmage the other day. We went and it was SO crowded, even with the big storm rolling in! Emma can't miss an opportunity to see her favorite player, "Quarterback Zack".
We left at half time, since the kiddos were getting restless and everyone's tummies were, too! We had pizza & called it a night!
Yesterday we had a little get together at our house with a couple families we adore :) John grilled burgers, I made pasta salad, and the others brought dessert and chips. It was a blast! I had filled up the little pool that morning so it had all day to warm up a few degrees. The girls all had a blast! (There were 6!)
This morning, as I was cleaning up the aftermath, I decided to take a rest on my swing under the tree. It was the first time in a long time I'd really looked at the pretty green leaves :) It was nice.
The view from my swing looking up :)

When Evan woke up, I filled his little froggie pool up with warm water from the tub and let him play. It was soooo cute! He learned how to splash!! Crocodile tail, anyone? :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!!
I haven't uploaded the Easter pictures from my camera yet, but I will do that soon!
This month has been busy with Easter hunts and spring events. I think we went on a total of 3 egg hunts!
I took pictures of the kids for Easter cards, but was so busy, I never got around to printing them, so I guess I get an F on that report card :( Boo.
Anyway, as you probably know, Oklahoma in the winter means the only thing green is wheat fields and a few anal lawn owners that can afford special winter grass. BUT, I happened to pass some greenery on the side of the road one day and whipped the kids out in the windy weather to take pictures. I know, but that's the price you pay for being the child of a photo enthusiast! :) So, here are a few of the best ones:

This picture is from an egg hunt at OSU. She is standing in front of Theta Pond, which we have several photos of her at all ages standing in front of! :)
I guess you've probably all heard about the wildfires here as well. I don't know how many for sure that there were, but they seemed to be everywhere all at once. We were about 5 miles from the nearest one, but my dad's house was about 10 feet away! His house was amazingly unscathed, but the same can't be said for his mailbox post, compst pile, or the thousands of trees we have all planted over the past few years. :( It was a miracle that his house made it. The fires just curved around it. Emma said that Eli put a bubble around it so it wouldn't hurt Papa. :) So cute.

Papa's land (with firetruck tracks!)

Through the burnt trees is Papa's cabin! This shows how close the fire got to the cabin! Just a few feet away from the back door!
Evan is sleeping in his own room now, and staying asleep most, if not all, the night through. It amazes me how much he grows each day. He holds his bottle well now, and has learned his first sign language sign : MILK. I guess those classes I'm teaching are doing well! ;)
Emma has a field trip to the zoo tomorrow (if it doesn't rain), and is really excited. Evan & I will be meeting her there. Hopefully this cold, wet weather will pass by then!

A New Day!!

Last night, Evan slept for the first time in his own room! He did really well, and didn't wake up at all. (I guess he can sleep better without the snoring daddy, dog, and cat and the TV...)
I, on the other hand, missed him dearly, but survived! My little baby is growing up!A good morning smile from Mr. Independant! :)
