11 Months!

Evan turned 11 months yesterday! Can you believe it?? In 27 days, he will be celebrating a whole year of life! (minus the womb!)
He weighs in at 23 pounds, and stands 29 inches tall. He has 4 teeth, and is crawling like an indy 500 racer! His hand/eye coordination has grown a BUNCH since last month, and he loves playing with his jungle playland (Thanks again, Granma Joyce!) now that he can put the balls down the slide on his own! All the baby gates are up around the house again. Harley is confused and probably having flashbacks of when Emma started moving around! He has also started "dancing" to music he likes. He'll be on hands & knees and bounce forward & back. SO cute!
We love you, Evan! Congratulations on another month of life!

Flashback: Emma at 11 months! What a cutie!

Cingular has more bars... more places, including our house! :)After a quick morning walk/stroll, I saw the kids & my shoes lined up & couldn't help but think of that ad slogan. My mom used to love seeing all our shoes of varied sizes in the entryway. I guess one day, it will be back to just the 2 big feet that we started with, so I better capture the moment now! (Boo hoo!)

The End of a Great Season!

Yesterday was Emma's last Wee Tee-Ball Game. Really. Next year, she'll be in "coach pitch". I can't believe that she's growing up so fast!

Her 2009 Photo :)

Throwing the ball to first base. Her catching, throwing, AND batting have all improved SO much this year! We're so proud of you, Em!!

Usually, her hits were grounders, but towards the end of the game, they were up & over the players' heads!
Got it!
Congratulations on another great, fun, and HOT tee-ball season, Emma!
After the game, we headed back to Coach Dominik's house for lunch & swimming. The kids had a blast in the 103 degree heat (plus heat index!)What goes up...
...come down!
This week in (or out of) the Castro house:

  • Pelican Bay Water Park
  • Monty Harper Concert

Splish Splash!

This was so cute. I couldn't resist sharing. I love seeing Evan in awe and amazement in things we take for granted, like splashing water!

Summer Fun In (and out) of the Sun!

First off, remember the Wonder Wheel-A-Thon we went to in May? Well, here is the photo from their website they sent - recognize the family in the top right? ;) You can see the slide show by clicking here . Today is Emma's last day of Girl Scout camp. Wednesday I went with her for a couple hours and got a few pictures of her adventures.
Happy Campers Emma & Morgan

Their troop (the Red Rubies) got to do the opening ceremonies this day. Here they are with the flag!
Painting her "pet rock". These always reminded me of my aunt Jeanine. I think she made them when I was very young.
Her curly-haired little rock :)
Water break! (Well, it WAS over 100 degrees every day this week!)
Emma & her favorite troop helper.

Today was a special day for Evan! I took him to Youth Fitness Zone (where Emma took gymnastics) for a play day. Since he's now a crawler, I figured he might have some fun! And I was right!

Evan's first day at gym!
He liked these colorful balls!
He crawled up and down this "hill" all by himself! I was so proud! :)
Riding the airplane (turbulence reenacted by Joey)
Today they issued a heat advisory until tomorrow evening. Yuck. Poor Emma has her last tee-ball game tomorrow morning at 10! She will be glad when her swim lessons start, so she can be in the water! :)
June is coming to an end - can you believe it?? Evan will be 11 months Sunday, and his 1st birthday is just 30 short days after that! Time flies!
Please keep the children of Michael Jackson in your prayers, as life for them will be astonishlingly different from now on. It is always hard to watch children grow without their parent, as children still have unconditional love for them, no matter the good or bad, strange or different the parent may be. And he loved them, just as you & I love our little blessings.
Also keep my friend in your prayers. She is due any day with her little boy and on bedrest until then! Safe arrival to you, little JF!

Happy Camper!

Today is the first day of Emma's Girl Scout Camp! She packed up all her things and headed out this morning at 9! She will be without air conditioning from 9 to 3 every day this week! Yikes! (and it's triple digits all week!!).
Today is John's first day at his new job at Frontier Engineering. He left at what would be REALLY late for his old job - 7:30am - for his 5 minute commute. He'll be home for lunch, so I'll pass on the scoop soon! :)

Papa's House

Yesterday we went to my dad's for Father's Day dinner. Yum! The kids had a blast! "Papa"'s garden is flowing with yummy veggies, including my new love, zucchini! Emma got to try a sweet pea, which she didn't like very much, but was excited about!

What else can we try??

The frame of the porch is just starting to go up. The sod & sprinklers will be done by the weekend!
A hot DOG. (no bun)

It was a great Father's Day! I hope it was for you, too!

Happy Father's Day!!

I hope you all had a great Father's Day weekend! We sure did! It began early with our annual Father's Day breakfast at ihop, and followed with church and dinner at my dad's house. The kids gave John stepping stones for the yard, which he adored.

Family Fun Night #1 : Drive-In Movie!

Last Wednesday was "Family Fun Night" at our church. The theme was "drive-in movie". We were confused at first on how that was going to take place, seeing as how we don't exactly have a 100 foot screen in our parking lot, but it ended up that everyone got boxes and supplies to make their own "car". We watched "Bolt" on a jumbo screen (and two littler screens) in the front entrance of our church. It was really fun! We invited Gavin's family, and of course Lauren's family was there, too!

We picked up McDonalds on the way for dinner & the kids ate while we finished setting up our troves of supplies...except Evan, who looks pretty mad that he can't have a kids meal just yet! (Why IS it that the littler people are, the bigger amount of "stuff" they have to have?...)

The kids got their "box" cars!

Emma & Gavin each got one...
...and the little guys shared a box car.
Finishing up the flames on Emma's hot rod.
Here are the cars at the start of the movie! By the end of the show, the kids were off playing on the playground with lightsticks and bottles of bubbles and other treasures they were given. It was mostly adults left as the credits rolled and we all packed up & went home for a night of good sleep!
