Welcome Home, Evan!!!

Today Evan came home! He was born yesterday at 1:08p.m. Weighing in at 7 lbs and 2.5 oz, he was pretty big for being 3 weeks early! He is doing really well. He survived his circumcision and has been sleeping pretty much 23 hours a day. We have to wake him up to try to feed him (even though that doesn't always work!) He's exhausted from all the chaos! (as am I!)

Emma is LOVING having him around, and wants to hold him all the time. She is SUCH a good big sister! It's nice to be at home all together. Our family is finally complete!

My last night as a fatty!

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We enjoyed ours as the last weekend of being a family of three. I had been working on getting everything "ready" for post-baby, but I left a lot more undone than I thought, so as I type, I am remembering more & more things, which will probably be left undone because I am ready to relax for my last night of semi-good sleep. I've been getting about 5 hours of sleep a night, mostly uninterrupted, but a lot of bathroom breaks inbetween!
Emma is really excited for her baby brother to arrive. She has packed her backpack of busy items (which work for about 5 minutes) and has it by her door along with her "I'm a big sister" tee from Gramie.
Harley is feeling anxious. i can tell by the way he follows me everywhere I go and is never more than 2 feet away. If I even go into the garage, he is crying. Luckily, he will have Gramie & Emma here tomorrow night so he won't be so lonely!
John is finally getting excited about the baby! He was trying to fix my mess of a garden this weekend, but with the record heat, he couldn't stay out long. I think it looks great, anyway! :) He packed his bag and of course it's loaded down with electronics and car magazines.
As for me? Still a little scared. Probably will be until I hear that first cry. But, i am ready. It is too freaking hot to be this fat!!! :) I just can't wait until we're all 4 at home, safe and sound. Luckily, I will have my laptop in the hospital, so I can answer emails & send updates! Here's my instant message ID's...the yahoo one has webcam, so sign up & chat with Emma to keep her busy! :)

Emma's Award :)

This morning Emma got an award from the Stillwater Public Library for her reading hours this summer (She had over 15 hours logged in!). Hooray! Congratulations to Emma! She is SUCH a good reader, reading every night before bed and all day long. Her favorite books are Dr. Seuss books and of course, Disney stories. But any book will do as long as it has nice pictures :)

Only 3 more days until Evan makes his arrival! We are trying to do all the last minute preparations, but it seems to be a losing battle. How do you clean your house when you have a 5 year old hurricane following behind you? Sigh. We are going to try to cook a bunch of dinners this weekend as well to have the first week home, but we'll see if we get to it. Em has a birthday party this weekend, and John has lawncare to do. Harley needs his nails cut (a dog with talons - pretty scary), and I need to do laundry. We are all so excited!!! We have waited so long for this big event! I'll keep you posted!!

5 More days! :)

Happy hump day! Hope this finds you well! We are less than a week away from Evan's arrival! Can you believe it?! Yesterday's doctor appointment concluded that I am already 2 1/2 cm dilated, so it shouldn't be a long wait!

This morning I did my first interview for a teacher for Kindermusik. Luckily, she was awesome, and I don't think I'll have to interview any more. Yay! So, Kindermusik will start classes the 3rd week in August, and I will wait until September when things around here get a little less chaotic!

Emma has started a countadown chain. She has Evan's birthday, Hannah Montana/Miley Cirus 3D on TV, and the first day of school all on the chain, which she cuts a link off of once a day. How exciting! The countdown has begun!

Anyway, no picture today :( Sorry! Pin It

Karaoke!!!

This morning was the kid's canival at Eskimo Joe's. It was a water carnival, with lots of big water slides & inflatables and games. They also had karaoke, which Emma decided to do! First, she sang "Bop to the Top" (from High School Musical, of course), and then "Mississippi Queen" (from Rockband). Unfortunately, she didn't show her normal crazy singing, but it was cute nonetheless! This website wouldn't let me post such a big file, so I had to youtube it. To keep it private, i could only enter 25 email addresses, so if you can't view it, let me know, and I'll try to see if I can get you on there! :)

Coming down the big water slide!

Bowling!

Happy Birthday to Harley!

Harley Turned 6 today! Happy Birthday!!!

Here's his Birthday "cake"

Yum yum!

It took all of 3 minutes for him to finish it all off!

The non-stress test today went well. Evan was sleepy, but he had a good reading, nonetheless. (I also almost fell asleep!) It's pretty boring sitting in a recliner for an hour! We should see his arrival in 11 days! Exciting stuff! :)

More Momma Drama!

In case you didn't get the middle of the night text message, I can fill you in on Evan's latest drama for mama. :) About 11 last night I started contracting every 4 minutes for about an hour & a half, then it started dwindling off, so I went to bed, knowing I had an appt this morning with Dr. G.
Anyway, I awoke without a newborn in the bed and went to my appointment. Evan was fine (probably snickering all the while), and I was still just dilated 1 cm. so hopefully he will make it to the 28th. All the receptionists were making bets on if I was coming back or going to deliver. I think most thought I was delivering, because when I told them, they were all saying "oh man! I was sure that he was coming today!!" (You know you spend way too much time at your doctor's offfice when everyone knows your business and your unborn baby's name! Ha!)

Emma is into Burger King this week because of the POkemon toys in the happy meals. We went today and sat by a grandpa with REALLY hairy ears! I had always heard the jokes about old men & ear hair, but never in my life have I ever seen a furby living inside a human ear!!! I took a picture on my phone, so I'll have to post it later for your viewing pleasure...

UPDATE: Here it is, but unfortunately, you can't see it b/c my camera phone isn't the greatest :(

It was TOTALLY so much worse!!! I don't think he could hear! Poor guy! :( Pin It

2 Weeks!!!

The countdown is on! 2 weeks from today, baby Evan should arrive! Yay! I'm getting too fat for this heat! ;)

John has begun learning to play his guitar. He & Erich spent most of the evening last night learning songs & chords.
It was pretty funny to be cooking dinner with serenades of Yankee Doodle and other kiddie songs! :) Maybe we'll come carolling at your house this year for Christmas! Haha! Have the hot cocoa ready!!!
I have been busy trying to tie up all loose ends on everything before Evan comes, which is totally impossible, but still, I gotta try! The baseboards aren't going to dust themselves! Sigh.
Anyway, have a wonderful Monday! Pin It

Have a great weekend!

I finally scanned the ultrasounds from Wednesday - here are 2 of them! This one is his face (turned sideways). He, as usual, has his arm over his face on one side.

Here is a picture of his hand pushing away the ultrasound monitor! Haha! I guess that's what happens when your kid is photographed so much! Yesterday, Emma got to go with Papa to pick up fish from a fish truck at the mill. She had a lot of fun, and the fish men gave her some dead minnows for her turtle. Now she says that's what she wants to do when she grows up - drive a fish truck. I hope that changes before her "What I want to be when I grow up" essay. Hee hee.
This weekend (hopefully) will be pretty relaxing. Emma had a VERY specific shoe she wanted for her school shoes this year, and we finally found them today (I was beginning to wonder if they existed), so I think most of her school shopping is done.
Anyway, we wish you all a wonderful weekend!

A bill of good health!

Yesterday was baby Evan's last ultrasound/echocardiogram and Dr. Mirable gave him an 8/8! Good job, kiddo! :) He weighed in at 5 pounds, 10 ounces. Amazingly, that's pretty normal for his age, so not a monster baby yet! After Monday (14th), if he tries to come out, Dr. Goldsworthy says that they'll let him come! He'll be old enough that we can care for him here in Stillwater as opposed to flying him back to his Oklahoma City hospital for Prenatal ICU. Lets hope he sticks it out until the 28th!

So, Emma got to do some of her school shopping yesterday. Since the beginning of the school year is hot, she got to pick out some new summery clothes (that fit!) and we'll do fall later, since she seems to be growing like a weed for a couple months, then stop for a couple months. I can't keep up! At this point, she's in a 6x top AND bottom (as long as it has adjustable waist). She also picked out her High School Musical (of course) thermos and warm container for lunches and a few school supplies that she just HAD to have for Kindergarten.

John finally got his guitar, so he has been plucking at it ever since. This will be an interesting hobby...hmmm...I guess it's better than drums! :)

I heard on the news that Banana Boat, Coppertone, and one other brand of sunblock (maybe Neutrogena?) don't protect from the sun like they say they do, so watch out! Also, you only need 3 minutes of sun to get your vitamin D for the day - so take out the trash or something, and you're fine. I try to sun Evan each day, but he doesn't seem to like the red lighting, so who knows, I'll have a little cave hermit on my hands!

Ultrasounds coming soon! (Although he refused to look at the camera again!)

The end of a long weekend...

Well, we all survived July 4th without blowing ourselves up, however Emma & I awoke the next morning with zillions of mosquito bites! Yuck. We've been fighting over the itch remedies :)
My mom & I have been working on a project of endless "burp rags", which I think we have accomplished finally. I figured that instead of paying $18 a rag, we could make our own. Plus, we got to pick out cute fabrics that no one else will have :) Now, I have started a new project that is strictly confidential until I have the skills to make millions (ha ha!).
The countdown to Emma's first day of school is getting shorter! (37 more days!) She'll be going to a new school this year for Kindergarten. We already ordered her backpack & lunch bag for this year - she, of course, chose to go with the pink & silver this year (last year was light blue & lime). It will be exciting for her to go "school shopping" this year. I remember it was definately one of my most FAVORITE times of the year. We got to go to the mall and Target and pick out school clothes and supplies. I loved that smell of a new trapper keeper! :) It will be exciting to pass that tradition along! And this year, depending on when we can go, Evan may be toting along as well. (21 more days until his arrival!)
Today my friend is delivering to us a deep freezer! Yay! I can hardly wait! Now we can go to Sam's and buy a whole cow or something to put inside! Or maybe just cook a huge lot of dinners and freeze them for baby arrival month...either way, THANK YOU, NICKLE!!!!
ANyway, here is Emma's 2008 4th of July pic. Peace out!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Yay! Fireworks day!

Tonight we're going to Boomer Blast, like we try to do every year. Yummy picnic and fun with family! We'll need a lot of bug spray...

Anyway, just an update on baby Evan... the day I was released off bedrest, my doctor gave me a "fetal fibronectin test". This tests to see if there is fibronectin in the birth canal. Fibronectin is basically the "glue" that keeps everything together until delivery. Once it gets about 2 weeks from delivery, the fibronectin breaks down, and you'll find in the canal. A negative test means that there is about a 0.01% chance that the baby will come in the next two weeks. A positive test means that there's a 30% chance the baby will come in the next 2 weeks. Of COURSE, mine was positive. I'm telling you - this baby does NOT want to wait any longer! :) So, now I just have to watch my contractions more carefully (I have several a day) in case they turn into active labor. Yikes.

Emma is a real trooper. She deals with everything so well. Poor kid is constantly shuffled around from appointment to appointment unless an uncle will watch her, but usually the appointments are so early that no one is awake in time. She "graduated" from her "Sibling Course" at the medical center here earlier this week, where she got to tour the hospital (which she knows quite well by now) and watch a video with kids dressed in 80's attire talking about the good and bad things that come with being a big sister. Just something to keep in mind when you come visit Evan - congratulate big sister, too. She's been so wonderful helping me out while on bedrest and non-stress tests, and ultrasounds...a true gift from above. My little mini-momma.

Well, be safe and happy this Independence Day!!!

A free Preggo!

WELL...yesterday was my OB appointment, and thank goodness my OB is back from vacation! She let me off bedrest because she said there was no real reason for me to be ON bedrest in the first place! (I have never heard a doctor use the phrase "Freaking retarded" before...). So, I can go back to being my normal preggo self. Yay! My back was starting to ache sooo bad from laying around so much!

Tonight Emma has her "sibling class" up at the hospital. She will get to tour the places that her little brother will be when he is born. She'll wear her new big sister shirt, I'm sure :)

John's company switches everyone around a couple times a year from project to project, and John was moved to a new group with my friend, Michelle's, husband, Bucky. He's excited since Bucky may teach him to play the guitar.

It's finally July! They have a great fireworks show here we'll go to. Also, Harley will turn 6 years old this month! Yay! Sam, Harley T., and Maverick better get ready to party! ;)

Happy July 4th Weekend! Pin It
